Gen Machig%2C Resident TeacherGen Kelsang Machig is the resident teacher of Vajrayana Buddhist Centre in the West End of Glasgow. She has been studying Buddhism for over fifteen years and presents Buddha’s teachings with clarity, humour and love, focusing on how to use this timeless advice to solve our daily human problems. She is also a regular presenter on BBC Radio Scotland's "Thought for the Day".

Machig teaches weekly meditation classes here in the centre on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and the centre's Foundation Programme on a Saturday morning. She also teaches a branch class in Paisley on Wednesday evenings.

Throughout the year Machig teaches at regular day courses, talks and events. She also now runs week long retreats in the centre, as well as an annual island retreat on Inchmurrin. In April each year she grants a Blessing Empowerment.

Machig has a wealth of experience in all walks of life. Prior to becoming the resident teacher she taught as a learning support teacher in schools throughout Glasgow. She also has 3 sons so fully appreciates the joys and challenges of parenting in our society.

Machig is an out and about nun, meeting, chatting and connecting with people as they go about their daily lives, showing how Dharma comes alive in a very practical way to help us deal with life’s challenges. Her morning walk in the park has resulted in many new students arriving at the centre.
