Foundation Programme
The Foundation Programme, or 'FP' provides a comprehensive and systematic presentation of Buddha's teachings especially suited to the modern world that enables students to deepen their understanding and experience of Buddhism through study, discussion and meditation practice. The programme comprises five subjects, based on Buddha's Sutra teachings and the corresponding commentaries by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.
Here in Glasgow, in Ayr and also in Inverness we are studying the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment, based on the commentary Joyful Path of Good Fortune. By studying Joyful Path of Good Fortune we gain the ability to put all Buddha’s teachings of both Sutra and Tantra into practice. We can easily make progress on and complete the stages of the path to the supreme happiness of enlightenment. From a practical point of view, the Stages of the Path is the main body of Buddha’s teachings, and the other teachings are like its limbs.
There are currently seven FP classes being held around Scotland; in Ayr, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, the Borders and Dumfries

Interested in Attending a Class?
The Foundation Programme at the centre takes place on a Saturday morning from 9am to 1pm. We are aware that this is not convenient for some students and consequently are offering a foundation programme class on a Wednesday evening here at the Centre starting in January 2012. This will be taught by Sandy Grant who will present Eight Steps to Happiness.
A class also started in September in East Kilbride on a Thursday evening taught by Carole Condamin. This class also studies Eight Steps to Happiness.
If you are interested in any of these classes please contact Fiona at the centre for further information.
